Anything else in view but this present time

Installation, consisting of 8 wipers and motors, cables, convertor, motion detector, 2009

The installation “Anything else in view but this present time” plays with the idea of representation within the exhibition setting. It works like a visitor barometer, with the windscreen wipers reacting on visitors entering the exhibition space. By recording the traces of an audience in the space the wipers slowly abrade their black rubber onto the white wall. In this way the white cube is slowly and partially darkened, the instruments for free sight become a tool for opaqueness.
